Who are The Improv Allstars Anyway?
Aiken Promotions, are delighted to announce that, The Improv Allstars, namely, Stephen Frost, Steve Steen, Andy Smart & Ian Coppinger, are joined by some very special guests: Colin Mochrie, Brad Sherwood, and Dermot Whelan, at a very special one off show at, Vicar Street on Thursday 27th October.
Stephen Frost’s Improv Allstars, are the Premier league of improvisers. Four fantastic performers and three incredible special guests are coming to, Vicar Street to transform random audience suggestions into a night of spontaneous and magical, never to be seen again, comedy. If you’ve ever watched ‘Whose Line Is It Anyway’ you’ll understand that when it goes right – it is the funniest thing ever. When it goes wrong – it’s even better.
Colin Mochrie, spent seven long years trapped on The UK version of, Whose Line Is It Anyway, then escaped only to appear on every single episode of the, US version. Rightly renowned as one of the world’s greatest improvisers, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity to see such a multi-talented, properly funny comedian summon flights of surreal brilliance from thin air.
Colin, brings with him one of improv’s all-time masters: Brad Sherwood. Brad, had spent 3 seasons on the UK ‘Whose Line…’ then appeared on all seven series of the, US version. Together, they star in the longest running improv show on the planet ‘The Colin & Brad Show’ which has been touring consistently since God was a boy.
Dermot Whelan, takes a break from presenting duties on, Irish radio station, Today FM to join this stellar cast. Dermot, who regularly performs at the, Dublin Comedy Improv in The International which, at twenty four, is Ireland’s longest running comedy show. He’s been all over our screens for years on shows such as, The Panel, and Republic of Telly. A Limerick native, Dermot, studied French and Architecture, at Trinity College Dublin City, before jacking it all in to become a full time radio messer.
The Allstars are, Stephen Frost, Andy Smart, Steve Steen & Ian Coppinger
Stephen Frost – Big, bald, bushy browed, Stephen, is a comedy legend and an improv maestro. He pulls the strings and announces the games, taking audience suggestions and deciding when a sufficient level of breathless hilarity has been reached before moving on to the next game. He has appeared in Whose Line Is It Anyway, The Young Ones and as the overly cheerful head of a firing squad on Blackadder.
Ian Coppinger – Don’t let the size fool you, or do, if you know what I mean. Ian packs a lot of fun into a five foot frame. One of Ireland’s most successful comics, Ian acts, performs stand up and improvises all around the globe and is the perfect physical foil to, Stephen’s hulking presence. Ian has appeared on, The Panel and is a long standing member of Dublin Comedy Improv.
Steve Steen – A leading exponent of the art form, Steve was featured in six episodes of Whose Line Is It Anyway. He also appeared on Have I Got News For You, is practically a mascot of the Vodafone Galway Comedy Carnival and had a star turn as ,Lord Byron in Blackadder The Third.
Andy Smart – Andy is a member of, The Comedy Store Players – the longest running comedy show in the world according to the, Guinness Book of records. For some reason, Andy has run with the bulls in Pamplona over fifty times.
