The Irish comedy writers for the 1st ever Radio Sitcom Trials announced

RadioSitcomTHE RADIO SITCOM TRIALS is a brand new initiative designed by Sideline Productions and to promote new Irish comedy writing for radio. The call out was supported by RTE Radio 1 with The Broadcast Authority of Ireland.  

The 3 new scripts will be staged as part of COMEDY SHOWHOUSE at the Project Arts Centre on Saturday May 5th @ 3pm.

The three winning writers and their radio sitcoms are –


SYNOPSIS – The home of a rowing couple is invaded by a ‘separated’ parent!

James has written a number of comedic short films (college productions) plus comedy sketches for radio where he provided all the character voices. A finalist in the Irish Comedian of the Year 2017, James also co-runs Dundalk comedy club – Drop Out Comedy, as well as writing and performing sketch comedy online.


SYNOPSIS The romantic exploits of two single women who love men who can dance.

Sinéad worked in TV production and as a journalist before an MA in TV Scriptwriting at DMU, Leicester. Since then, she has written for RTE’s FAIR CITY; sketches for both series of THE JOHNNY & INEL SHOW on CBBC; a sitcom for BBC Comedy North; a feature-length comedy with Parallel Films/the Irish Film Board; episodes for Jam Media’s CBBC show LITTLE ROY and Hot Drop’s CUBY ZOO and ODDBODS.


SYNOPSIS Over 15 years later, Chris looks back at the ‘eventful’ 2002 World Cup in Japan

Rob is a member of Shifts, an online comedy sketch group.  Writer and actor, Rob mixes a life in education with creating online comedy for’s #TheJOEShow and plus has written/performed for RTÉ’s Republic of Telly and FM104’s Strawberry Alarm Clock.
