Fun and Active Play Day to be held in Dublin City

This years national fun and play day will happen on Sunday 2nd July 2017 in Dublin City. This free family event will kick off on Merrion Square from 1. to 5.pm. This event is been aimed at getting everyone active outdoors and promoting fun.

This event is been brought to you by (DCC) Dublin City Council, and its supported by The Department of Children and Youth Affairs. And the idea is to get the children all active and help them promote their health as well as having some fun outdoors.

The theme for this year’s National Play Day is ‘Fun and Active Play’ which is aimed at promoting fun and active play outdoors. Running, climbing, jumping, outdoor street games, action songs, skipping and cycling are just some activities encouraged to improve children’s physical and social development.

Playing outside is very beneficial for children’s overall health and well being and is an important element of a vibrant sustainable community. This event is aimed at encouraging and supporting children and young people to engage in outdoor fun and games in their local community and forms part of Dublin City Council’s plan to make Dublin City a more child friendly and playful city’, said Debby Clarke, Play Development Officer, Dublin City Council.
