ABOUT THE PARADE
Following the Stonewall riots in New York City in 1969, a resolution was passed by the Eastern Conference of Homophile Organisations in Philadelphia on the 2nd of November 1969.
“that a demonstration be held annually on the last day of June” and that it would “encompass the ideas and ideals of the larger struggle that we are engaged in – that of our fundamental human rights”
The Pride Parade is always a highlight of our annual festival. It is an opportunity for us to march in solidarity and hear the power of our voices combined. It is also a chance for us to celebrate, to celebrate ourselves, our diversity, our achievements and our friends. Admission to the Pride Parade is free for individuals and community groups that support the ideals and principles of Pride, though registration is required for all groups taking part.
For the enjoyment of all and to ensure the safety of all, groups and organisations wishing to take part must register in advance.
The pride Parade is a great opportunity for businesses to show their support for their LGBTQ staff and customers and join in our celebrations while showcasing their brand. Understandably there is a huge cost involved in operating the Pride Parade and funding received from Dublin City Council, our sponsors and donors cannot be used to subsidise commercial entries.
The following fees apply for commercial groups wishing to take part in the Pride Parade:
- 1 – 25 people €500
- 26 – 50 people €750
- 51 – 100 people €1,000
