Bridge’s Of Hope At Work Part 17.

It’s Saturday 16th February 2019, and it’s just a little past 7:15pm and we are once again out with Bridge’s Of Hope (boh) who on a weekly basic set up a food and clothing station to help the victims who are caught up in the Irish homeless crisis. Talbot Street, North Earl Street, here in Dublin City is the location where these mobile feeding and clothing stations are set up week in and week out. The time frame for anyone to use these free services that Bridge’s Of Hope offer is supposed to be from 7:30pm to 9:30pm and just like any other Saturday the volunteers haven’t even had the time to set up when they are updated with requests from people seeking help.

It doesn’t take to long for the volunteers to set up the folding tables which in no time are full of hot homemade dishes including Dublin Coddle, Vegetable Soup, Chicken Curry, Pasta Dishes, Hot & Cold Fingered Food, Sandwiches, and plenty of hot fluids including tea, coffee, drinking chocolate, bottles of water, can’s of minerals, snacks including biscuits, crisps, chocolate treats, cakes, etc

The clothing station which is ran by about 6, to 8 volunteers is very busy again there seems to be an increase with people asking for help with sleeping bags, mats, tents, water and weatherproof clothing, thermal under garments, heavy winter jackets, boots, etc

In recent weeks there has been a big increase with help looking for babies and children’s clothing, and with nappies for the children, also on the rise people are asking for toiletries packs.

(boh) are only set up less than 1.5 hours when all the food is gone there is nothing left not even any snacks etc by the sheer amount of food that was given out to the homeless victims it would appear that this crisis is not getting any better but worse.
